Our Aluminium Anodizing Service
Other than wet spray painting, aluminium anodizing is another way of surface finishing. It is an electrolytic process to put a layer of aluminium oxide on the surface of an aluminium substrate.
Aluminium is a silvery-white element. It is normally used in a wide range of industries due to its lightweight properties, corrosion resistance and affordable price. For instance, it can be found in industrial appliances, automobile components, electronic components and more. Then, anodising is one of the processes of coating on metal, normally applied on aluminium. The importance of anodising is to prolong its lifespan when it can have better resistance to corrosion after anodising. In addition, it also prevents the surface from being scratched, wear and tear while increasing visual aesthetics.
The process of anodizing involves using the product to be coated as the anode in an electrolytic cell. This is why it is called aluminium anodizing when we are coating aluminium. It is worth noting that anodizing is not only limited to aluminium, but can also be applied to other metals like zinc or magnesium. It is just that aluminium is more common and demanding in the market.
What is the Aluminium Anodizing Process
As mentioned above, aluminium anodizing is an electrolytic process. We will look through the principle of electrolytics generally. For your information, aluminium and its alloy are originally resistant to corrosion when they have natural thin protective oxide on them. The anodizing process is to coat the oxide layer thicker, for a better resistance, chemicals, and physical properties.
In the anodizing process, we need anode, cathode, and the electrolyte (the solution). Aluminium/the product to be coated is connected to the positive terminal, which is anode. Then, a suitable plate is connected to the negative terminal as a cathode. Lastly, an acidic solution is used as electrolyte as the medium letting current to pass through them. For example, the electrolytes are chromic acid, and the commonly used sulfuric acid. Anode and cathode are partially placed in the electrolyte for the process. Next, the power source is turned on when the circuit is completed.
Generally, the electric current attracts positive ions to the negatively charged plates, whereas negative ions are drawn to the aluminium component, which serves as the positive anode. The interaction of the aluminium surface and negatively charged ions forms a barrier layer, which is known as the surface layer that makes components corrosion resistant in the aluminium anodizing process. The scale and duration of the electrical current transmitted will determine final aspects such as the thickness of the anodised aluminium product’s aluminium oxide layer.

Therefore, setups are readily available at Grille Tech to manufacture aluminium coated finished products. We practise technical processes to meet the needs of our devoted customers.
Advantages of Aluminium Anodizing
# Aesthetically pleasing
Anodising preserves the inherent metallic gleam of aluminium. In addition, an optimal surface coverage can be guaranteed as an immersion process. Unlike other finishing processes, some non-visible surfaces are not coated. Most metal forms and textured surfaces, such as perforated sheets and mesh material can obtain a highly consistent and regular finish through aluminium anodizing.
# High corrosion and wear resistance
Anodising forms a strong, wear-resistant coating layer that sufficiently protects the underlying aluminium. In fact, neither aluminium nor anodized aluminium will rust easily. However, there is still possibility when they are exposed to high humidity, moisture or corrosive environments. Therefore, anodized aluminium is way more resistant when there is a thicker layer of oxide protecting the aluminium. This, in turn, benefits aluminium’s durability, making it an incredibly robust material in the construction industry.
# Ease of maintenance
Aside from finishing, there are a range of operations on the products, such as fabrication and installation, that may leave scars and wear unexpectedly. However, aluminium anodizing is free of these issues since it can be readily cleaned with a moist cloth to restore its natural appearance. For more tough deposits, mild acid cleansers might be used. Furthermore, it will not face adhesion failure such as peeling or cracking on the surface as it is an oxide layer integral with the metal itself, but not the ordinary coating. As a result, anodized aluminium is super easy to take care of.
Quality of Aluminium Anodizing Service Provider
Aluminium anodizing services are available worldwide since aluminium anodizing is required in the majority of industries. Grille Tech strives to provide 100% customer satisfaction for high-quality aluminium anodizing service to a wide range of well-known manufacturers in Asia Pacific, North America, and Europe. Therefore, you may rely on us to provide the best services. However, manufacturers must take extreme caution when selecting an anodizing provider as the cost of non-quality anodizing might be exceptionally severe. A few significant factors to consider while choosing an aluminium anodizing service provider including:

Industry experience
As most anodizing is done for the construction, aerospace and defence sectors, choosing an aluminium anodizing service provider that is not only experienced but also specialised in the industry can have a significant influence on the end quality of the anodic coating. Acceptable machining oils, manufacturing standards, and the chemicals used might vary in each industry. For example, processing equipment in chemical baths used by other sectors can cause bath pollution and nonconforming material. As a result, expertise and understanding of the qualities of project outputs are required to effectively manage the processes.

In-house Tools
When all components are vital to quality, the aluminium anodizing service provider must grasp the regulatory standards. In-house tools indicate that they have enough instruments to assist with the anodizing operations. When they are knowledgeable with the operations of the tools, they will be able to serve a consistent, smooth, and appealing surface of the anodized products.

Validated and quality production
The standardisation and quality of the finished anodic coating must be measured and proven at a scalable level. When choosing an aluminium anodizing service provider, it is necessary to inquire about the company’s QC pass as well as any regulatory complications. A QC pass rate of 98% or more is often indicative of a high-quality anodic process. At Grille Tech, our quality processes are compatible with ISO standards, giving you the assurance that quality is consistent as we practise internal capabilities assessment.
At Grille Tech Sdn Bhd, with the cutting-edge technology we use and supported by our experienced team which consists of multiple professionals, you can rest assured that we provide the best speaker grille, aluminium anodizing services and your desired customized metal finished products in Malaysia.
